A new theme has surfaced this year. Women have been mentioning that they ask themselves if they deserve something that they want. An upgrade, that new piece of jewelry, a vacation. This is extremely disheartening to me. These women work hard seven days a week. They are mothers, wives, run companies, service clients, and very rarely tend to themselves. When the opportunity arises to purchase something that would bring them a great deal of joy, there is a pause and a tinge of guilt. Sometimes the mention of enjoying something without their children is also broached. Where does this originate?
This disheartening thought is quite troublesome to me. The average woman will give anyone the shirt off her back. There is a mass consumption of worldly issues that they carry day in and day out. Why wouldn’t you book that cruise to the South of France? Attend that nude yoga class in Soho. That lecture that you wanted to attend? GO! A woman deserves to have whatever she wants especially if she is the one that is paying for it. This is not meant to endorse excessive behavior of a luxurious greed. However, buy something nice for yourself every now and again without guilt. It is not always about the people around you. What you want for yourself is important simply because you want it. It does not have to be tied to a major accomplishment or tax refund. Treat yourself simply because you can.
