My Community of Women: New Thoughts, Basic Needs

Crystal & Crystal

Crystal & Crystal

What is the name of the magic that happens when women congregate with each other? It is a universal sensation. At some point, the thought enters our heads that you know, I want to hang out with other women such as myself. No kids. No men. No talk about the 9-5pm. Let’s just get together and enjoy the finer things in life. Connections and new support systems occur because of such gatherings. Memories are made and selfies galore attack social media.
Movements exist in the modern day on this very ancient concept: Sister Talk, Girl Connections, Girls’ Night Out, Women’s Circles….all of them are based on the various needs of our feminine community. As a proud facilitator of women’s circles, I know of the need for such concepts because of how they sustain us. Women need their own space in which to express themselves and develop. It is also a chance to see the wonderful personalities that exist among us.
As the first month of a new year comes to a close, my heart wants more for my little circle. It is time for us to leave the beach as a main fixture. We need to get out into the community and be seen by others sitting down in coffee houses. December saw the introduction of focus groups which will continue into the Spring. Discussions should remain but let’s step up the accountability of each other. There are new business owners that would benefit from casual mentoring conversations. Every single one of us would benefit from tea, coffee, or even a nice glass of wine. Our village should be in place so that it can grow. It is our responsibility to do such things so that our daughters can easily take our places.
What thoughts do you have about your community of women? Do you think that it should focus on a new agenda?

My Friend is the tallest Person that I Know

The origins of our friendship involve flowers. She made me feel so special with her caring customer service. I gave her flowers for Secretary’s Day, and she did not even work for me. I would imagine it was a shock to receive them from a client that did not even belong to her; however, the truth of the matter was that she had become a reference point of warmth for me. We probably became friends that day. I knew that she was a very special individual but wasn’t sure what made her this way. It wasn’t long before the reasons became crystal clear.
On one random weekday in the Summer of 2012, we were having a conversation. We were still quite new to each other but the comfort level felt as if it lingered from a previous lifetime. I was explaining my desire to have an event for women to come and enjoy sisterhood. A slow steady gaze of interest fell over me. My new friend expressed an interest in attending. It was not long before she did appear at a now memorable circle. It was a night filled with admiration and knowledge. It was the night that her short stature dwarfed everyone in the room.
It was the Fall season. My assistant was working hard on the setup while I greeted women. The waitresses were very kind and attentive to our needs. Approximately ten women attended with my original sister calling to check in on us. Once the lively discussion began after dinner, the conversation took an unexpected turn. The frustation of one woman with her lack of business progress struck a chord with my new friend. She was soon standing in front of everyone as the tallest woman in the room. Everyone sat in awe as she effortlessly shared her knowledge. No one wanted to move in spite of the fact that the hour was growing quite late. No one looked at a cell phone or a watch for fear that the feeling would go away. One would think that it was a rehearsed scene from a movie when in fact it was simply a testimony from a very astute individual. All of us would still be sitting there at IHOP if she did not happen to check her watch to see that it was 1:00am.
The circle did not close that night. We sped home to dive into bed and pray that sandman had not forsaken us. Before my head hit the pillow, my captivating friend received a phone call from me. My words made it very clear that she was being hired as a workshop presenter, and that she had to give me a date when this would be possible. She happily accepted and executed two rather informative presentations on behalf of the Circle of Sisterhood. I have taken formal business classes with experts that have spent many years before standing in front of a group of people with advice. This individual knows as much as they do if not more and she isn’t in her thirties yet.

It is unclear to me if I will ever be able to truly express my admiration for this talented lady. There is no one else like her on earth because the human race would not be able to handle it. While I have told her, perhaps the written word will do a better job of putting my thoughts about her existence into a better perspective. The way she looks at life, the way she analyzes things, and the conclusions that she reaches are far removed from anything that is considered the status quo or common. Why, she even has different looks! She has not yet reached her peak in life. I am fond of referring to her as the talented, the captivating one because she needs to get used to receiving awards.

This elevated person defies limitations and does not accept failure because it simply is not on the list. She is an unforgettable character that keeps me on that lively thrill. She has the vision to look at an individual and see all of the possibilities instead of the downward spirals. Anytime spent with her is a drop of water into the bucket of fun. When she has something to say to you, it is said without hesitation good or bad; this is a speaker of truth. She will no doubt read this and call me while misty as she is a fan of my blog. When she does, a big smile shall cross my face because maybe then I will have expressed my genuine happiness for our friendship. Perhaps I should get tissues now.

WOMAN, YOU ARE DIVERSE

A woman has many layers that compose her. She is multi-faceted and as diverse as the drops of water that make up the ocean. The women that are able to draw upon their strengths, understand their flaws and always work on themselves in an effort to hear their own vibration in the universe.

What if you are reading that paragraph and wondering how it applies to you? Is that because you do not know what your strengths are? Maybe you are unaware of your flaws as well OR you are too familiar with them. Let us draw a road map together.

When your friends call you for advice, what are they calling about? Is it cooking? Maybe baking. Is there something that you enjoy and pursue just for the fun of it? That is your passion and you should use it to your advantage. Learn everything that you can about it and stay current. Do not forget to apply your knowledge whenever possible so that you can stay sharp.

There are certain topic or areas that make you feel uneasy because you simply do not like them.
My nemesis is math. I do not believe that numbers are my friend. How do I cope as an adult?
I know people that are good with math. They are the ones whom I address with such questions in order to improve my comprehension. You would be surprised to know how many people are eager to explain things to you.

I have recently discovered the need to streamline my work. It came to my attention that my harp music can be combined with my womens’ work especially with angels. They compliment each other. This instrument resonates well with their realm. I have begun to include it in healings and meditations much to the delight of my clients. I have even performed in workshops as the music source while women shimmied and undulated to balance their chakras. The meeting of both passions can make for a unified healing effort that can help women improve themselves while connecting parts of me.

Now, what about the minor parts of you that may need some attention? Maybe you have a pesky ring of fat that simply will not leave your midsection in spite of the fact that you are working out and drinking water. Your diet is also at a peak. Do not put that ring on the back burner. Bring it to the forefront! Speak with a nutritionist to see if your diet is the one that you should have for your body requirements. You may need a different workout schedule or form of exercise that will melt that ring while including the rest of the body. You may be a spinner and a treadmill person but have you gone into the step aerobics class? You may swim and walk around the block but have you gone on the reformer? There are true fitness professionals out there. They love discussing such things. Engage them in conversation.

If you wake up one day and realize that your circle of friends has vanished, well then you have some work to do. Where do women connect with each other? EVERYWHERE! Facebook is a popular meeting ground. Attend a class that you have an interest in. Many women also become friends because of their worship practices. You can also attend a Circle of Sisterhood.

There are so many wonderful things about a woman that can enhance the world. During the spring, I was having a conversation with someone and she was explaining something to me. When she was finished, I burst into a heartfelt I love you. She responded with sheer joy. Needless to say, we are now friends. Kindred spirits tend to find each other very easily. These are the little moments of genuine feelings that become cherished memories.

Tired Tuesday

My morning began on a fine note. I received an email of appreciation at work. It was such a pleasant surprise that I began crying. The person wanted me to know that I was making a difference in a life and that it mattered to her. I had no idea. It gave me inspiration to strive for excellence throughout my busy day.

As I left one work location, I reported to my performance venue. The studio where I workout happened to be on the way to the venue but alas, I could only look at it with great longing. Unfortunately, no one knew that I was coming which made for pleasant faces that displayed happy confusion. Once I was shown to the correct building, I performed for two hours with a ten minute stretch break. By the time I arrived home, my body was finished. Bedtime was 8pm last night. Unfortunately, I awoke hours before dawn and was unable to return to sleep. The imperfections, exhaustion, and pain within my body had taken its toll. I decided to take a hot bath with some of my favorite crystals.

It was a lovely experience. My mind went to places of relaxation as the incense vanished into the air and the aroma filled the room. The candle flickered back and forth. My mind wandered to the preparations for the circle and upcoming worshop. A smile crossed my face as I thought of my passion. I also decided that my childrens’ meditation group was going to have an intense session this morning.

My breakfast is being prepared as I type this. My attire shall be casual as I do not expect a hectic day. This is good because I need the downtime considering my tiredness. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I look forward to the time off. I rejoice in knowing that I get to spend time with my sisters on Friday. Oh the fun we shall have.

MY FIRST WOMENS’ CIRCLE: THE FACILITATOR

We are all a part of different types of circles: work, friends, family, etc. This summer found my mind wandering to a circle of sisterhood hence the blog. However, I knew that a live extension of that had to occur. I wanted to have something that would be a throwback to ancient times when women were sisters and honored each other as well as themselves. I knew that I want to form a circle for women to come together.

Here I am hours before I head to the beach hoping that it will be a nice experience for all of the women involved. The plan has been set, and text messages have been received. I am looking forward to forming sisterly connections during this full moon in Aquarius.

Afterwards…..
I am so happy that this has finally manifested into reality. It was such a joy to share and connect with other women under the full moon on the beach. What a special time for us. Our journey is not always easy but together, we can learn from each other and conquer our greatest fears.
